STI TESTING
STI (STD) Testing and Treatment for Men in Tokyo | Same-Day Testing
Same-day testing and treatment at a men-only clinic in Shimbashi. Results in two to four business days. Self-pay, so nothing is sent to your home or employer.
Before you read: what people ask us most
Q Do you speak English?
A Consultations are conducted in Japanese, and we use translation tools to support English-speaking patients. If you would feel more comfortable with an interpreter or a Japanese-speaking companion, you are welcome to bring one.
Q Can I use Japanese health insurance?
A No. Every treatment on this page is self-pay (jiyu-shinryo). Japanese National Health Insurance and public subsidy programmes do not apply, so you pay the full amount shown.
Q Do I need to bring my insurance card or residence card?
A An insurance card is not required, precisely because these treatments are self-pay. Please bring photo ID. If you are unsure what to bring for your situation, tell us in the booking form and we will confirm before your visit.
Q Will my employer or family find out?
A Because treatment is self-pay, no insurance claim is filed, so no statement of medical expenses is sent to your home or your employer. This is a men-only clinic.
Q How do I pay?
A We accept VISA, JCB, Mastercard, American Express and Diners Club, as well as debit cards and cash.
Is this you?
- You have symptoms after unprotected contact.
- A partner has told you they tested positive.
- You have no symptoms at all, but you would rather know.
- You are getting checked before marriage or before trying for a child.
Many sexually transmitted infections cause no symptoms in men, which is exactly why testing matters. You can be seen without symptoms, and partners are welcome to ask questions too.
What we test for
Gonorrhoea and pharyngeal (throat) gonorrhoea, chlamydia and pharyngeal chlamydia, candida, mycoplasma, ureaplasma, HPV, syphilis, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, herpes, and genital warts (condyloma).
How testing works
- A urine sample is collected in the clinic restroom. A combined test kit detects gonorrhoea and chlamydia from that single sample.
- Syphilis, hepatitis B, hepatitis C and herpes are tested by blood sample.
- Results come back in two business days at the earliest, and four at the latest. We contact you through LINE.
- If an infection is confirmed while you are at the clinic, treatment can begin the same day.
- After treatment, a re-test is carried out once an appropriate interval has passed.

Privacy
This is the question we are asked most often, so to be explicit: because testing and treatment are self-pay, no insurance claim is filed. That means no statement of medical expenses is sent to your home or to your employer. This is a men-only clinic.
Risks and things to be aware of
- Every test has a window period. Testing too soon after possible exposure can produce a negative result even when an infection is present, which is why a re-test is sometimes recommended.
- Antibiotics can cause side effects such as digestive upset or rash. Tell the physician about any drug allergies.
- If an infection is found, your partner may also need testing. We can talk through how to approach that.
