Is this you?
- Your weight has climbed steadily since you stopped moving as much for work.
- You have been told at a health check that your waist measurement or blood results need attention.
- Diets on your own have worked for a few weeks and then reversed.
- You want to lose fat without losing the muscle you have built.
- You would rather have a doctor overseeing this than buy something unsupervised online.
What the obesity clinic does
This is a doctor-supervised weight loss programme for men. It combines guidance on the daily habits driving the weight gain with, where appropriate, Kampo (Japanese herbal) medicine that supports fat metabolism.
The aim is not rapid loss for its own sake. It is to bring weight down while health is maintained, and to leave you with habits that hold the result in place afterwards.
Our approach, and what we do not use
Injectable diabetes medicines are not used here
Some clinics run weight loss programmes built on injectable diabetes medicines. This clinic has taken the position that they should not be used for this purpose, and does not offer them.
What is offered instead is lifestyle guidance together with oral Kampo medicine, as a way of supporting the body rather than overriding it.
Doctor-supervised
Lifestyle changes are set and reviewed under a doctor rather than left to you to work out alone.
Men-only clinic
The clinic treats men only, and the guidance is built around how men typically gain and lose weight.
Online option
The programme can be run through online consultation if attending in person is difficult.
Why the clinic treats obesity as a medical matter
Blood pressure
Keeping visceral fat from increasing is intended to limit the production of angiotensinogen and leptin, which are involved in raising blood pressure.
Blood lipids
Left untreated, high blood lipids raise the risk of conditions including aortic aneurysm, cerebral infarction, angina and myocardial infarction. Exercise guidance combined with oral medication is used to bring that risk down.

About bofutsushosan
Bofutsushosan is a Kampo formulation containing eighteen crude drugs. It is described as activating fat cells so that abdominal fat is broken down and burned, and as helping lipids to be excreted with the stool.
Side effects and risks
Nausea, abdominal pain, diarrhoea and palpitations have been reported. The formulation works partly by promoting bowel movement and the excretion of excess water, which is why these effects can appear.
Tell the doctor at the consultation about any medication you take and any existing conditions.
How long treatment continues
Six months to one year is the usual recommendation. Once you reach the point of maintaining rather than losing, reducing the medication is proposed.
Can this be done online?
Yes. An online obesity clinic is available, and the programme can be followed without attending in person.
