Before you read: what people ask us most
Q Do you speak English?
A Consultations are conducted in Japanese, and we use translation tools to support English-speaking patients. If you would feel more comfortable with an interpreter or a Japanese-speaking companion, you are welcome to bring one.
Q Can I use Japanese health insurance?
A No. Every treatment on this page is self-pay (jiyu-shinryo). Japanese National Health Insurance and public subsidy programmes do not apply, so you pay the full amount shown.
Q Do I need to bring my insurance card or residence card?
A An insurance card is not required, precisely because these treatments are self-pay. Please bring photo ID. If you are unsure what to bring for your situation, tell us in the booking form and we will confirm before your visit.
Q Will my employer or family find out?
A Because treatment is self-pay, no insurance claim is filed, so no statement of medical expenses is sent to your home or your employer. This is a men-only clinic.
Q How do I pay?
A We accept VISA, JCB, Mastercard, American Express and Diners Club, as well as debit cards and cash.
Is this you?
- Acne has settled down, but the marks and the uneven surface it left have not.
- Pores on the nose and cheeks look enlarged in daylight or in photographs.
- The skin on your nose looks darkened, and washing does not shift it.
- Your skin texture looks rough or tired, and you would rather not start a long cosmetic routine.
What Dermapen 4 is, briefly
Dermapen 4 is a microneedling device. Very fine needles create a large number of tiny channels in the skin. The skin responds by repairing itself, which stimulates the production of collagen and encourages the turnover of the surface layer.
The aim is to improve the texture of the skin itself — the unevenness left by acne, the appearance of enlarged pores, and darkening on the nose caused by built-up dead skin — rather than to cover it.
Velvet Skin
Velvet Skin uses the same Dermapen 4 device to deliver the components of a collagen-stimulating peel into the skin. It is chosen where firmness and radiance, as well as texture, are the concern.
Results and how quickly they appear vary from person to person.
What we offer
Dermapen 4, full face

Velvet Skin, full face

What the appointment involves
How long it takes
About one hour for the full face, including roughly 30 minutes for the topical anaesthetic to take effect.
How many sessions, and how often
The usual guide is one session a month, over a course of five to ten sessions. How many you need depends on what you are treating and how your skin responds.
Discomfort
This varies between individuals. Some people feel a prickling sensation during the treatment. Afterwards, the skin often feels rather like mild sunburn.
Anaesthetic brought from elsewhere cannot be used. Only anaesthetic provided by the clinic may be applied.
Before and after your treatment
For one week before and one week after
Avoid skincare containing peeling agents, vitamin A (retinol) or hydroquinone.
After the treatment
Do not rub the skin. The skin is in a sensitive state, and firm rubbing can cause inflammation.
Moisturise thoroughly from 12 hours onwards.
Use sunscreen from 12 hours onwards. The skin is more susceptible to ultraviolet light after treatment, so protect it from the sun.
