Is this you?
Men’s Care Clinic Shimbashi provides medical laser hair removal one minute on foot from the Ginza exit of JR Shimbashi Station. We treat men only, using the Gentle LASE Pro alexandrite laser. People come to us with concerns like these.
- Shaving every morning takes time, and the shadow comes back by the afternoon.
- Your skin is sore from shaving, and you want to stop irritating it.
- You want a beard shaped rather than removed completely.
- You are considering VIO or full-body treatment but do not know what it costs.
- You want to be treated after work rather than take time off.
What treatment at the clinic involves
Medical laser hair removal uses a laser that responds to melanin, the dark pigment in body hair. The laser generates heat that damages the structures responsible for hair growth, which is how hair is reduced. Because it works on dark, thick hair, it suits the heavier body hair and dense beard growth common in men.
This is a reduction treatment, not permanent removal. Hair may return over time, and the number of sessions needed differs by area and by person. Sessions are spaced about a month apart to match the hair growth cycle.
The laser we use
We use the Gentle LASE Pro, a device approved in Japan. It carries an alexandrite laser, which responds to dark melanin pigment and destroys the follicle and the dermal papilla with heat. This heat-destruction method is effective on the dark, thick hair and heavy beard growth particular to men.

Your visit, step by step
- Book through LINE or the website. If there is a free slot we can often see you the same day.
- Shave the area yourself before you come. If we shave it for you, a charge of ¥3,000 per area applies.
- The doctor checks your skin and hair and confirms the areas to be treated.
- If you have booked anaesthetic, you apply it yourself and the session begins afterwards.
- The laser is applied. There is a time limit for each area.
- Sessions are repeated at intervals of about a month, to match the hair growth cycle.
Important information about this treatment
- Self-pay treatment: medical laser hair removal is not covered by public health insurance and the full cost is borne by the patient. No insurance card is needed, so no notice of medical expenses is sent to your home or your workplace.
- Reduction, not permanent removal: this treatment is intended to reduce hair. Hair may grow back over time, and the number of sessions needed differs by area and by person.
- Burns and inflammation: the laser produces heat, and the skin may react as it would to a burn, with inflammation.
- Paradoxical hair growth: hair occasionally becomes thicker after treatment. The cause is not fully understood, but heat insufficient to destroy the follicle is thought to stimulate it instead. It is reported more often on the back and the face, where fine hair predominates.
- Folliculitis: spots resembling acne may appear in the treated area. Unlike acne they usually cause no itching or pain and have no central core. They are more common in the genital area, the underarms and the back.
- Moles and pigment: the laser responds to dark pigment, so it also responds to moles. A mole may darken temporarily before fading. We can treat around moles if you prefer — please ask.
- Do not pluck or wax: the laser needs dark hair inside the follicle to work. Plucking and waxing remove it and make treatment ineffective. Shave instead.
- Individual variation: the result, the sensation and any side effects differ from person to person. Whether treatment is appropriate is decided by the doctor at the consultation.
Lateness and cancellation
If you arrive late, the laser can only be applied within the time remaining in your booked slot, and the full price of the booked treatment — or one session of a course — is charged. For cancellations and changes, no charge applies three days ahead; 75% is charged two days to one day ahead; and 100% is charged on the day. For patients on a course, one session is counted as used.

If you are hesitating
I am worried it will hurt.
It is often described as being flicked with a rubber band. How much it is felt varies. Anaesthetic is available for the whole face or the VIO area at ¥3,000 and must be booked in advance.
I only want my beard thinned, not removed.
Shaping is possible for the beard and the eyebrows. Tell us what you want at the consultation.
Will my family or my employer find out?
All treatment is self-pay and no insurance card is required, so no notice of medical expenses is sent to your home or your workplace. This is a men-only clinic.
I am not sure I want to commit to a course.
You can start with the trial — ¥6,800 for three beard areas — or pay per session. Trial sessions do not count towards a course of five.
I do not know which areas to choose.
The five-selected-areas plan lets you fix the areas when you choose the course. The doctor can advise on which areas are worth treating first.
Questions we are asked
Does it hurt?
It is usually described as being flicked with a rubber band, though how much it is felt varies from person to person. Anaesthetic is available for the whole face or the VIO area at ¥3,000 and must be booked in advance.
Will there be redness or swelling afterwards?
There may be, but it generally settles within one to two days.
How much does it cost?
Three beard areas are ¥6,800 as a first-time trial, ¥9,800 per session, or ¥36,800 for a course of five. VIO and full-body treatment are also available.
What machine do you use?
The Gentle LASE Pro, a device approved in Japan. It carries an alexandrite laser, which responds to dark melanin pigment.
How often do I come?
About once a month. Sessions are spaced to match the hair growth cycle.
Will the hair stop growing altogether?
Medical laser hair removal is intended to reduce hair. It may grow back over time, and the number of sessions needed differs by area and by person.
Can the beard or eyebrows be shaped?
Yes. Tell us what you would like at the consultation.
I pluck my hair. Can I still be treated?
The laser responds to dark pigment and needs hair inside the follicle to work, so plucking and waxing make treatment ineffective. Please stop and shave instead.
Dark spots appeared afterwards and look like stubble. What should I do?
Treated hair is shed naturally over about two weeks. Shave during that period and do not pull the hairs out.
Spots like acne appeared two or three days afterwards. Is that a problem?
Rarely, folliculitis occurs as a complication. It resembles acne and may itch. Keep the skin clean and do not scratch; it settles on its own without scarring. We can prescribe an ointment if it concerns you.
Can moles be treated?
The laser responds to dark pigment, so it responds to moles as well. A mole may darken temporarily and then fade or disappear. We can treat around moles if you prefer — please ask.
Do I need to shave beforehand?
Yes, please shave the area yourself before you come. If we shave it for you, ¥3,000 per area is charged. Where insufficient shaving prevents treatment, the area cannot be re-treated in that session.
What happens if I cancel or arrive late?
Cancellations and changes are free three days ahead, charged at 75% two days to one day ahead, and at 100% on the day. If you arrive late, treatment is limited to the time remaining in your slot and the full price, or one session of a course, is charged.
Do I need an appointment, or can I be seen the same day?
Book through LINE or the website. If there is a free slot we can often see you the same day. First visits are accepted up to 30 minutes before closing and follow-up visits up to 10 minutes before closing.
Will my family or my employer find out?
Medical laser hair removal is entirely self-pay, so no insurance card is required. As public health insurance is not used, no notice of medical expenses is sent to your home or your workplace. This is a men-only clinic.
How do I pay?
By cash, or by VISA, JCB, Mastercard, American Express or Diners Club credit card, or by debit card.
Which exit do I use, and how long does it take?
One minute on foot from the Ginza exit of JR Shimbashi Station, or from exit 1 of Tokyo Metro Ginza Line Shimbashi Station. The address is 1-8-4 Shimbashi, Minato-ku, Tokyo, Maruchu Building 7F-B.
Until what time can I be treated?
Weekdays from 14:00 to 21:00, and Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from 10:00 to 18:00. You can call in on the way home from work.
