The menu explained

Placenta injection — ¥490

The least expensive item on the injection menu, at ¥490 an ampoule, and available from a single ampoule. Placenta preparations are classified in Japan as products derived from specified biological material, and anyone who has received one is permanently unable to donate blood afterwards. Please choose this injection only once you have understood that.

Vitamin C injection — ¥900

Vitamin C given by injection, at ¥900 an ampoule. If you want a larger quantity, a high-dose vitamin C drip of 10g is ¥5,000. The injection is over quickly, so it suits a break in the working day or the journey home.

Garlic injection — ¥800

An injection containing vitamin B1 among other constituents, at ¥800 an ampoule. Garlic W, with increased quantities, is ¥1,200, and the hyper garlic drip is ¥3,500. You may notice a smell like garlic as it is given; it is not detectable by anyone else.

The other injections

Biotin at ¥500, glutathione at ¥900, Stronger Neo-Minophagen C at ¥900 and carnitine at ¥1,200 are available, each from a single ampoule. If you are not sure which would suit you, the doctor will suggest one after asking about the symptoms and difficulties that concern you.

The drips

The hyper garlic drip at ¥3,500, the Shirotama skin-brightening drip at ¥5,000 and the high-dose vitamin C drip of 10g at ¥5,000. A drip takes longer than an injection, so please allow enough time when you come.

Can constituents be combined?

Yes. Several constituents can be combined and the quantities adjusted to suit you. What is combined, and in what quantity, is suggested by the doctor at the consultation.

Before you come

• Eat and drink first. Having a drip on an empty stomach can make you feel unwell.
• Tell us about any medication and any allergy when you fill in the questionnaire.
• Allow enough time for a drip. An injection is quick; a drip takes longer.

Important information about this treatment

• Self-pay treatment: injections and drips at this clinic are not covered by public health insurance and the full cost is borne by the patient. No insurance card is needed, so no notice of medical expenses is sent to your home or your workplace.
• Placenta and blood donation: placenta preparations are products derived from specified biological material. Anyone who has received one is permanently unable to donate blood afterwards.
• Having it on an empty stomach: please have something to eat and drink before you come. A drip given on an empty stomach can make you feel unwell.
• Individual variation: how much benefit is felt differs from person to person.
• The doctor decides: whether the treatment can be given, and which constituents are combined, is decided by the doctor at the consultation. Please tell the doctor about any medicine you take and any allergy you have.

Coming as an English speaker

You can be seen here without speaking Japanese. There is no English-speaking doctor at the clinic: the consultation is handled with a translation app and a written intake form, which is usually enough for the doctor to decide on treatment. You are welcome to bring a Japanese-speaking companion or your own interpreter.

Getting to the clinic

The clinic is a one-minute walk from JR Shimbashi Station. From the Ginza exit, cross to the pavement on the side of the Big Echo karaoke building, keep Big Echo on your left and walk straight ahead. Cross at the pedestrian crossing, continue past the udon restaurant, follow the curve in the road, go up the short flight of steps and take the lift to the seventh floor of the Maruchu Building.

From exit 1 of Shimbashi Station on the Tokyo Metro Ginza line, come up to street level and walk straight ahead, crossing at the pedestrian crossing, then follow the same route.

Coming by other lines

Shimbashi Station is served by five lines. The Toei Asakusa line and the Yurikamome both stop at Shimbashi and are within walking distance, so the clinic is straightforward to reach from most parts of Tokyo.

Coming from Shiodome, Ginza or Toranomon

The Shiodome office district is within walking distance. Ginza, Toranomon and Kasumigaseki are one or two stops from Shimbashi. If you are coming from the Karasumori side, head for Shimbashi Station and follow the directions above.

Coming after work

The clinic is open until 21:00 on weekdays. First visits are received until 30 minutes before closing, follow-up visits until 10 minutes before. It is also open from 10:00 to 18:00 at weekends and on public holidays, which helps if weekday appointments are difficult.
