Seeing a doctor for ED without going to a clinic

Men’s Care Clinic treats men only. With online consultation you can be seen by a doctor from your first appointment onwards without coming to the clinic. After the consultation and payment, the medication is posted to an address in Japan. This page is about the online service; if you would rather be seen in person, the clinic is a one-minute walk from JR Shimbashi Station.

• Online from the first appointment. You do not need to visit in person to be seen.
• Anywhere in Japan. Where you live does not matter, and the medication is delivered to you.
• A doctor sees you by video call. There is no waiting inside a clinic.
• Delivery to a post office. If you would rather not have it sent to your home, tell the doctor during the consultation.
• From ¥880 per tablet for a product approved in Japan. There is no consultation fee when ten or more tablets are prescribed. Postage is ¥550.

The three active ingredients, and how they differ

These are general guides and the effect varies from person to person. You do not need to decide which one you want. The doctor asks about your symptoms, any conditions you have, the medicines you are taking and when you want to use it, and then suggests a suitable option.

• These three are not approved as pharmaceuticals in Japan, and are used at the discretion of the doctor.
• There are products approved in Japan with the same active ingredients, listed in the table above. If you prefer one of those, that is what will be prescribed.
• No serious safety warning from a public authority overseas has been identified for them. They have not, however, been through the Japanese approval review, so they have not been assessed to the same standard.
• Should harm to your health occur, they are not covered by Japan’s Adverse Drug Reaction Relief System.

Consultation fee and postage

What ten tablets comes to in total

There is no consultation fee when ten or more tablets are prescribed. For fewer than ten, a consultation fee of ¥3,000 is added. ED treatment is self-pay, public health insurance does not apply, and the full cost is borne by the patient. Payment is made against the invoice sent to you after the consultation.

Which one tends to suit whom

If you want to keep the cost down

Sildenafil is the lowest priced per tablet of the medications carried here. It is said to take effect in about thirty minutes to an hour and to last about four to six hours, which makes the timing easy to plan. It is often chosen by men who want to try one option first and think again afterwards.

If you would rather not watch the clock

Tadalafil is said to last up to about thirty-six hours, so the timing of the dose does not have to be judged finely, and it is said to be less affected by food. It suits men who have plans across a weekend.

If you are not sure

You do not have to choose for yourself. Tell the doctor about your symptoms, any conditions you have and the medicines you take, and a suitable option will be suggested.

How the online consultation works

Step 1 — Booking

Book through LINE or the website. Bookings are accepted at any hour, and you can be seen online from your first appointment.

Step 2 — Video consultation

At the time you booked, a doctor sees you by video call. You are asked about your symptoms, any conditions you have, the medicines you take and when you want to use the treatment. There is no waiting inside a clinic.

Step 3 — Payment

Payment is made against the invoice sent to you after the consultation.

Step 4 — Delivery

The medication is posted to an address in Japan. If you would rather collect it somewhere other than your home, tell the doctor during the consultation and it can be held at a post office. Postage is ¥550 per delivery.

Why buying online without a doctor is a different thing

Ordering ED medication from an overseas website through personal import is not the same as an online consultation. With personal import there is no doctor checking whether the medication is appropriate for you, no check against the other medicines you take, and no way to confirm what the tablets actually contain. Counterfeit ED medication is a documented problem. With an online consultation, a doctor licensed in Japan decides what to prescribe, and the medication is dispensed by the clinic.

If you already take nitrate medication for your heart, or any other regular medication, this matters a great deal. Please tell the doctor about everything you take.

Important information about this treatment

• Self-pay treatment: ED treatment is not covered by public health insurance. The full cost is borne by the patient, and the prices are those in the tables above.
• Medication approved in Japan: the sildenafil, tadalafil and vardenafil tablets listed in the first price table are approved as pharmaceuticals in Japan.
• Medication not approved in Japan: Gentle-V, Gentle-C Super and Gentle-L Super are not approved as pharmaceuticals in Japan. Products approved in Japan with the same active ingredients are available, and will be prescribed if you prefer them.
• Adverse drug reaction relief system: where a product not approved in Japan is used, it is not covered by Japan’s Adverse Drug Reaction Relief System, even in the event of a serious side effect.
• Main risks and side effects: headache, facial flushing, a blocked nose, palpitations and indigestion are among the effects reported with this class of medication. These medicines must not be taken with nitrate medication. Whether they can be prescribed to you is decided by the doctor.

How the effect appears varies from person to person. Please ask the doctor about anything that is unclear.

If you would rather be seen in person

The clinic is a one-minute walk from the Ginza exit of JR Shimbashi Station, and a one-minute walk from Exit 1 of Shimbashi Station on the Tokyo Metro Ginza Line. The address is Marucho Building 7F-B, 1-8-4 Shimbashi, Minato-ku, Tokyo 105-0004. Opening hours are 14:00–21:00 on weekdays and 10:00–18:00 on weekends and public holidays. Can I be seen online from the first appointment?

Yes. You do not need to come to the clinic first.

Where can the medication be sent?

To an address in Japan, wherever you live. If you would rather not have it sent to your home, it can be held at a post office for you to collect; tell the doctor during the consultation.

How much does it come to in total?

For ten tablets of sildenafil OD 50 mg the total is ¥9,350, including ¥550 postage and no consultation fee. Tadalafil 20 mg comes to ¥16,350 and vardenafil 20 mg to ¥15,850 on the same basis.

Is there a consultation fee?

Not when ten or more tablets are prescribed. For fewer than ten tablets the consultation fee is ¥3,000.

Which medication should I ask for?

You do not need to decide. The doctor asks about your symptoms, your medical history and the medicines you take, and suggests a suitable option.

Is health insurance accepted?

No. ED treatment is self-pay, so no insurance card is needed and the full cost is yours.

Do I need to speak Japanese?

Consultations are conducted in Japanese. If you are not confident in Japanese, please let us know when you book so that we can tell you what to expect.

Will my family or my employer find out?

No. Because the treatment is self-pay and no health insurance is used, no notice of medical expenses is sent to your home or your workplace. Delivery to a post office is also available.
